Occitan old town and Porta del Sangue
The village of Guardia Piemontese, heart of the only Occitan language island in southern Italy.
The old centre of Guardia Piemontese preserves Occitan culture and the Guardiolo dialect. The Porta del Sangue, the village’s main gate, owes its name to the 1561 massacre of the Waldensian community.
