Torre di Fiuzzi
The coastal tower on a 15-metre sea stack at Praia a Mare, facing the island of Dino, heir to an Angevin tower.
The Torre di Fiuzzi stands on a sea stack of the Fiuzzi cliffs about 15 metres high, right opposite the island of Dino. An Angevin tower already existed on the same spot; the present structure was adapted to defend the coast against Saracen raids and is one of the largest towers on the Upper Tyrrhenian Cosentino coast.
It belongs to Praia a Mare’s chain of coastal defences together with the 14th-century Norman Rocca and the Fortino of Fumarulo, built in the 1500s by the lords of Aieta. The stack is also the finest viewpoint over the island and its caves.
