The murals of Diamante
The wall paintings that since 1981 have turned the alleys of Diamante and Cirella into an open-air gallery.
It all began in 1981: painter Nani Razetti, together with the administration led by mayor Evasio Pascale, invited 85 artists from around the world to paint the walls of the alleys of the fishing village of Diamante and of Cirella. In the following years other authors added their works, and the town became the “town of murals”.
In 2021, for the fortieth anniversary of the first edition, the Murales40 project brought new pieces, including one by Jorit on a wall of the town hall, and the restoration of historic 1981 murals such as those by Eva Krump and Ibrahim Kodra. Visiting is free: just wander the old town between the seafront and the Torre del Semaforo, then carry on to Cirella.
